Phil is becoming really quite good at a new sport - KITESURFING! Having bought some kites off Trade me and nearly allowed Jean Clarke to be dragged off Bastion Point by them, he set to work on teaching himself the finer points of the sport.
He has even BUILT himself a kiteboard.....check out this photo on the left to see the wonderful wooden masterpiece....
It is pretty perfect living in Mission Bay, as he can
step outside and assess the wind conditions and then just go for it!
Here is Phil setting up the medium sized kite - quite often LOTS of fiddling around with tangled lines (in my opinion!)....and on the right, here is Phil disappearing down Mission Bay beach attached to his kite (darkness does not stop the man!)
Sometimes he kites on a nice day.....but mostly he chooses those really windy, even a bit rainy days!
